MAGIC HAT ENSEMBLE

   www.myspace.com/themagichatensemble

"Formed in early 2006 coming together after a series of informal jam sessions at a house in Manchester, The Magic Hat Ensemble have built a solid name for themselves as a cracking live unit around the UK. Offering a youthful and often irreverent take on standards, asserted through incredibly tight rhythmic playing and cheeky metric modulations, the result is pulsating post bop given a refreshing boot up the behind. Led by Steve Chadwick on cornet with pianist Andrzej Baranek, guitarist Tony Ormesher, bassist Nick Black and drummer Rob Turner this is a dynamic and hugely listenable band worth catching live."  (jazzwise magazine)

BRASS JAW SAXOPHONE QUARTET

   http://www.brassjaw.co.uk/

"The critically acclaimed saxophone quartet Brass Jaw, already well known for challenging the boundaries of “chamber jazz” have now extended them still further. The inclusion of the ace trumpeter Ryan Quigley creates a new ensemble that is truly unique in sound and direction.
Brass Jaw bristles with the excitement of a completely original set including the odd quirky arrangement of well loved jazz standards, all written and arranged by this stellar line up of Scottish jazz musicians."
