N  SUNDAY OCTOBER 27th, 12.30pm, AT WHELLEY EX-SERVICEMEN'S CLUB

THE QUENTIN COLLINS SEXTET

One of the hardest-working internationally-renowned jazz trumpet players, Quentin Collins has formed a band with an all-star line-up:

QUENTIN COLLINS “A Trumpeter whose style is a sizzling update of the Morgan/Hubbard approach…MOJO Magazine

TONY KOFI [alto saxophone] “There is so much respect in jazz circles for Tony Kofi.”… Jazzwise  “Passionate… superb… heartfelt” …The Guardian

BRANDON ALLEN Brandon Allen is arguably the most exciting tenor player in Britain today. His phrasing is unashamedly emotional, soaked in the blues tradition.”… Tony Hall (JAZZWISE)

STEVE HAMILTONOne of Europe’s most creative and experienced contemporary pianists...

LARRY BARTLEY Excellent Bassist, with a distinct Mingus-like drive to his propulsive bass lines”… Time Out

WINSTON CLIFFORD Winston Clifford is one of Britain’s leading jazz drummers.

Performing material from their new album ‘Road Warrior’, a musical depiction of life as a touring musician showcasing an outstanding collection of contemporary straight-ahead material, the Quentin Collins Sextet draws inspiration from the rich tradition of three-horn frontlines, evoking The Jazz Messengers, McCoy Tyner and Wynton Marsalis.
